Artist Application


The 2011 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will take place in historic Charleston, SC, February 18-20, 2011, with set up for artists on February 16.  Celebrating its 29th year, SEWE is the largest wildlife art event in the country, featuring wildlife and nature paintings, carvings and sculpture.  Attracting over 40,000 attendees, SEWE draws artists and attendees from across the country and around the world.

Those who wish to participate must submit the enclosed application along with 6 images that are representative of your work (CD preferred, slides accepted) for review by the jurying committee.  A one-time $25 application fee must accompany all first time submissions.

If approved, the artist will receive an invitation to participate in the show and the accompanying registration must be returned along with the appropriate fee if necessary.  This does not guarantee space in the show.  Registrations are accepted in the order in which they are received until all spaces are filled.  Registration fees are non-refundable.

Space is not reserved until the artist receives official notification.

 

SALES INFORMATION

SEWE provides a sales staff to handle sales for painters and sculptors, along with cashiers to collect and process transactions (SEWE pays all credit card discounts).  Carvers handle their own sales and pay a booth fee in lieu of a sales commission.  You will find all payment information listed under each medium below.  Security is provided 24 hours a day at all exhibit sites.

Artists may only exhibit in the category for which written notification of acceptance has been received.  All artwork is exhibited at the discretion of SEWE, which reserves the right to remove artwork deemed inappropriate.  Artist's exhibit site is assigned at SEWE's discretion.

Painters and Sculptors may not be featured in any art show within 100 miles of Charleston, SC within 120 days prior to and 90 days following (with the exception of Sculpture in the South) the 2011 SEWE dates.  Exceptions must be confirmed in writing by SEWE.  Painters and Sculptors also must agree to pay the appropriate show commission to SEWE for any sale made as a result of contact made at the event.  This includes commissioned and special order artwork.

All unsold artwork must remain on display through the close of the show.

 

PAINTERS

All artwork is displayed on pegboard panels provided by SEWE, along with lights and hooks for hanging.  Panels are 4' wide x 8' tall and are assigned at the discretion of SEWE.  All work must fit on the number of panels assigned.  You may replace pieces as they sell.

Once accepted, painters must return a $100 fee with their registrations and SEWE will retain the following commissions from the sale of artwork at or as a result of the show :

 

 

  • 35% originals

  • 35% framed reproductions

  • 50% unframed reproductions

 

SCULPTORS

Sculptors are provided at least a 12' x 8' space and are encouraged to bring their own pedestals, displays and lights.  Tables are available for those who do not wish to bring their own displays.  Lights are not provided.

Once accepted, sculptors must return a $100 fee with their registration and SEWE will retain 30% of each piece sold at or as a result of the show.

 

CARVERS

Carvers are provided at least a  10' x 10' space and are encouraged to bring their own pedestals, displays and lights.  A table and two chairs are available at no cost to those who do not wish to bring their own displays. We will provide additional rentals for an extra charge if needed. 

Once accepted, carvers must return a $100 fee with their registration and SEWE will retain 30% of each piece sold at or as a result of the show.


We will begin accepting 2011 artist applications in May 2010.
