Sue’s artwork is inspired by her love of the natural world, and all creatures great and small. She has been an avid birder for over twenty-five years and an equally avid butterflier for the last fifteen. Sue is fascinated by everything in nature and portrays many different animals, but birds are her favorite subject and comprise the majority of her work. She is an avid naturalist who draws her inspiration and reference material directly from observations made in nature. Sue’s work has been juried into a number of national and international exhibits including Art and the Animal (Society of Animal Artists) and Art of the Animal Kingdom (Bennington Center for the Arts). Her graphite drawings have been selected for publication in the best of drawing books “Strokes of Genius 3: New Perspectives” and “Strokes of Genius 4: Exploring Line”. In addition to graphite pencil, Sue’s other mediums include combinations of watercolor and colored pencil and hand-colored etchings. She is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists and Artists for Conservation Foundation.
