In 1981, Chuck decided to move from a military career to something more personally satisfying – bird sculpting. He was mesmerized by the idea which has since become his profession and life’s work. Chuck’s work consists of realistic and detailed sculptures of birds with his goal to “capture a moment in nature and to bring that excitement into his sculpture and ultimately to the viewer.” Chuck spends a great deal of time researching birds before starting a project and is always trying to learn something new about each bird he creates. Chuck’s work has won numerous awards, including “Best in Show” and has been selected for inclusion in the “Birds of Art” exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. Chuck has also been the featured carver and created the Masterpiece Carving “Soul Mates” for the Waterfowl Festival. His work can be found in private, corporate and public collections in the United States and Europe.
