Wayne Simmons

Wayne has been an artist most of his life.  Sporting art, portraits of people, people and their pets, wildlife and landscapes all have their place in his work, but it's his dogs and their antics afield that offer recurring themes throughout his work.  After graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Art-Extended he pursued a career in advertising.  In 1976 he opened Simmons Advertising/Public Relations in Shreveport, LA, which he operated until 2006.  Today, Simmons and his wife, Gay, divide their time between their homes in Shreveport and Door County, Wisconsin where they spend increasingly more time.  He operates Simmons Sudio/Gallery on their farm near Ellison Bay, WI during the summer/fall months and goes back south when the snow begins to fall.  Simmons recently wrote and illustrated a book by the name of The Story of Jules Verne, A Watch Pocket Dog which is a medium-sized, coffee table style book laced with colorful paintings of gun dogs, horses, wildlife and outdoor scenes familiar to the artist/author.
