Riley was honored as the 1990 SEWE Artist of the Year and has been featured at every show since then. It is Ford’s ability to capture a moment, to evoke a feeling, as well as his talent for accurately portraying wildlife and wildlife habitat, which garnered him that honor. “I want to put the smell and sound of everything that’s around me when I’m painting…I want to put something into the painting so that people looking at it not only see the obvious, but get a sense of what I’m trying to get across to them. I want them to hear the crickets in the background,” Ford notes. A native of Florida, Riley’s home and studio overlook the St. John’s River – an ideal setting for a wildlife artist. His works have been commissioned by several major corporations and have won numerous honors and awards.
