Sheryl Stalnaker

Sheryl Stalnaker's award winning oil paintings have been shown in juried shows such as the Piccolo Spoleto Exhibitions in Charleston, the Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition local show, and the Telfair Museum of Art Fair in Savannah.  She has also shown her work in galleries in North and South Carolina and Georgia.

She explores a variety of subjects, including the landscape and still life, focusing on beautiful light and interesting perspective in her compositions.  She frequently paints with a palette knife instead of a brush, achieving a rich and vibrant paint application.  Stalnaker has studied art throughout her life and is a graduate of the University of Washington.

The Charleston City Paper selected Stalnaker as an “Artist to Watch.”  Said the City Paper, “Plein air painting (painting from life) is a genre that seems to be saturated with talented local artists… but one particular artist who has set herself apart is Sheryl Stalnaker.”

Stalnaker’s paintings were selected as the official poster images for the 2011 Charleston Farmers' Market , as well as the 2011 Old Village Home, Garden and Art Tour.  As part of the promotion for the Old Village Tour, her painting image appeared on a billboard along I-26 approaching downtown Charleston, along with all event promotional materials.  The Charleston Farmers' Market poster image was unveiled at a ceremony on the opening day of the market with Charleston Mayor, Joe Riley.

Her work is in corporate and private collections across the U.S. and abroad.  A marsh landscape triptych painting (18 feet long) by Stalnaker is featured in the Tidelands Bank headquarters building in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
