Diane Odachowski

Diane is an award-winning artist who lives and paints in Charleston, South Carolina. Her work is held in private collections from Charleston to California. She attributes her talent to her grandfather who was a famous New York City fashion designer.

Born in Westfield, NJ, Diane began her studies at the Du Cret School of Art, where she graduated from in 1978.

She married the same year and moved to various cities with her restaurateur husband. This allowed her to study at the Art Institutes of Atlanta, Cincinnati, Buffalo, and also the New Jersey School of Visual Arts.

Moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 1996, with her now four children, Diane and her husband parlayed her creativity into the restoration of two period homes in Charleston’s historic district. They were awarded a Caropolis Award for Restoration in 1999. She has furthered her schooling with classes at the College of Charleston and the Gibbes Arts Center. Through taking numerous classes and workshops with both locally and nationally known experts, she has been able to blend numerous techniques into the formation of her own personal style.

Diane has worked in watercolor and pastels but now considers herself primarily an oil painter. Often working plein air, she specializes in landscape, architecture, still-life and figures. Her strength lies in the use of color and its relationship to the play of light and shadow.

She is a juried member of the Charleston Artist Guild and the Charleston Plein Air Painters. Diane has been juried into numerous shows and won a Merit Award in the 2007 Piccolo Spoleto outdoor show. She also won first place in 2001 Members Show of the Charleston Artist Guild.
