Reid dreamed of being an artist since childhood. Active in art classes and clubs in high school, she sold her first piece, a pencil drawing of a still life, in the 10th grade for $7. At Auburn University, Reid first studied art but later switched to the design department where she earned her degree. She worked for interior designers for 8 years painting murals and faux finishes of the subjects that inspired her most. During that time, Reid joined 12 other artists on a Safari to East Africa to study, sketch and photograph all of Africa’s splendor – a dream come true. She followed that trip with another 2 years later and was amazed all over a gain at the natural beauty and mood of Africa. Her fascination with African wildlife, present even in her earliest works, has greatly influenced her person and professional pursuits. She chooses to draw and paint nature in its environment and support preservation.
