Jack Hanna Presentations
Jack Hanna, one of America's best know naturalists, will return to host several entertaining presentations during SEWE 2008.

Children's Square
A large portion of Marion Square will be dedicated to fun, educational activities and programs for children of all ages, including:
• Eudora Farms exotic petting zoo
• Pony and camel rides
• Craft making and science stations Coordinated by Charleston Museum
• Edisto Island Serpentarium tent
• Power Rock climbing wall and Spider Jump (bungee-jump/trampoline combo with secure harness)

Retriever Demonstrations
Trainers/handlers will put highly skilled retrievers from the Palmetto and Cooper Retriever Clubs and the Boykin Spaniel Society through their paces. Due to the ongoing popularity of these great demonstrations, they will now be held in two SEWE venues. Brittlebank Park and Marion Square |
Quick Draw Competition
On Friday, 2/15, 18 artists will participate in SEWE's first ever "Quick Draw" competition. Participating SEWE artists will have just one hour to paint a piece, with an auction of the artwork produced to be held afterwards. Featured Artist Peggy Watkins
An avid researcher, Peggy spends a great deal of time in the field observing and photographing hunting dogs and wildlife. She and her husband, Todd, reside in Atlanta, GA, and also spend time in Africa each year at their private residence in the wild bush country of Zambia.

ICBP's demonstrations wow audiences with majectic raptors in flight, while educating people about the important role the birds play in our eco-system and our role in protecting them.

American Wildlife Art
David J. Kids for Conservation
Congratulations to Renelyn Wolters, a 4th grader at the Mullinax School in Berkley County, winner of the '08 Poster Competition!
The goal of SEWE’s Kids For Conservation program is to promote wildlife and environmental conservation awareness in young people.
Sponsored by SCANA, the KFC poster competition is open to all Tri-County students in grades 1–5. Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to enter the nature photography contest, and the birdhouse competition is open to those in the grades 9–12. All enteries will be on display in Marion Square during the Expo.

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Shows
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary hosts programs with live, non-releasable wild animals that offer the public a rare opportunity to learn from nature up close and create a memorable message of respect for all living creatures and their habitats.
Established in 1983, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary cares for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals, while promoting wildlife and habitat conservation through a variety of community environmental outreach programs.

Antique Nature Prints
SEWE will host an exhibition and sale of rare, original antique prints in the Ashley Cooper room at Charleston Place (first door on the left on the main hallway on the 2nd floor). Gilbert Johnston’s collection includes original Audubons printed by Havell, as well as early bird, mammal, fish, insect, & botanical prints by noted 17th-19th century artists. |
