How To Participate
Artists Applications

Space for artists at SEWE 2008 is now full.  To receive an application for SEWE '09, send an e-mail request to lshealy@sewe.com

There is no application deadline. Applications are accepted until all spaces have been filled.


The 2008 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will take place in historic Charleston, SC, February 15-17, with set up for artists on February 13-14.  Celebrating its 26th year, SEWE is the largest wildlife art event in the country, featuring wildlife and nature paintings, carvings, sculpture and photography. Attracting over 40,000 attendees, SEWE draws artists and attendees from across the country and around the world.

Those who wish to participate must submit the enclosed application along with 6 new slides for review by the jurying committee. A one-time $25 application fee must accompany all first time submissions.


If approved, the artist will receive an invitation to participate in the show and the accompanying registration must be returned along with the appropriate fee.  This does not guarantee space in the show.  Registrations are accepted in the order in which they are received until all spaces are filled.

Space is not reserved until the artist receives official notification.  


Slides will be returned to those whose work is not approved.

Show Information


SEWE provides a sales staff to handle sales, along with cashiers to collect and process transactions (SEWE pays all credit card discounts) for painters, carvers and sculptors.  Photographers handle their own sales and are the only artists from whom we do not collect sales commissions, as we collect a booth fee.  You will find all payment information listed under each medium on the following page.  Security is provided 24 hours a day at all exhibit sites.

Artists may only exhibit in the category for which written notification of acceptance has been received. All artwork is exhibited at the discretion of SEWE, which reserves the right to remove artwork deemed inappropriate. Artist’s exhibit site is assigned at SEWE’s discretion.


Painters, Carvers and Sculptors may not be featured in any art show within 100 miles of Charleston, SC, within 6 months of the dates of SEWE, or participate in any gallery event in Charleston within 3 months of the show dates.  Exceptions must be confirmed in writing by SEWE.

All unsold artwork must remain on display through the close of the show. 


All painters, carvers and sculptors agree to pay the appropriate show commission to SEWE for any sale made as a result of contact made at the event. This includes commissioned and special order artwork.

Registration fees are non-refundable. Cancellations must be made in writing.


DRAYAGE PROVIDER:  SEWE contracts with Azalea Moving & Storage to provide drayage services for artists who need to ship their work.  2008 rates are TBD; click here for general information. 

Painter Information


All artwork is displayed on pegboard panels provided by SEWE, along with lights and hooks for hanging artwork.  Panels are assigned at the discretion of SEWE.  Pegboards are 4’ wide x 8’ tall and all work must fit on the number of panels that are assigned to each artist.

Original paintings and reproductions are exhibited in separate locations. Panels, lights, hooks and sales staff are provided in both locations.


Painters must return a $100 fee with their registration, which will be accepted unless all available spaces have been filled, in which case artist will be placed on a waiting list.  SEWE will retain the following commission from the sale of artwork:

35% originals
50% unframed reproductions
35% framed reproductions


Carver & Sculptor Information


Carvers and sculptors are provided a 12’ x 8’ space and are encouraged to bring their own pedestals, displays and lights. Tables are available for those who do not wish to bring their own displays.  Lights are not provided.

Carvers and Sculptors must return a $100 fee with their registration, which will be accepted unless all available spaces have been filled, in which case artist will be placed on a waiting list.  SEWE will retain a 30% commission from the sale of all carvings and sculpture.


Photographer Information


Space for photographers at SEWE 2008 is now full.  To receive an application for SEWE '09, send an e-mail request to lshealy@sewe.com.


Photographers go through the same jurying process as other artists but, if accepted, will only set up on Thursday and in a different location.  Each photographer will pay $450 fee for a 10’ x 10’ booth and will handle their own sales.  At an extra charge SEWE will provide additional rentals as needed.

Exhibitor Applications

 The 2008 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will take place Thursday, February 14th through Sunday, February 17th, 2008 . Those who wish to participate in the Exhibitor category must submit the enclosed application along with photos representative of the items to be exhibited for review by the jurying committee. Photos will be kept on file if you are accepted to participate. Photos will be returned to those whose work is not approved. A one time $25 application fee must accompany all first time submissions. The items must be wildlife or nature related.


Upon approval, exhibitors will receive a registration which must be returned along with the appropriate booth fee. Registrations are accepted in the order in which they are received until all spaces are filled.


Space is not reserved until the exhibitor receives written notification. Exhibitors who are notified of acceptance must be prepared to set up their displays on Thursday, February 14th, and must be present through Sunday, February 17th. Show hours are 10 am to 6 pm Friday and Saturday, and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. All booths must remain manned and open for business through the close of the show. Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will provide each exhibitor a pipe and drape booth space with one table and two chairs. Electricity and other items may be requested for an additional fee. Security is provided 24 hours a day at all exhibit sites. Cancellations must be made in writing and refunds will be given if written cancellation is received at least 60 days prior to the event.


Exhibitors may only display the items for which written notification of acceptance has been received. SEWE, reserves the right to remove items deemed inappropriate. If you plan to show a video at your booth it must be reviewed and approved by SEWE.
