About Cory
I'm artist Cory James McLaughlin , a Texas artist. I have shown my work both Nationally and Internationally. I've been a professional artist for nearly 18 years now. I studied classical realism in art school, even studying for a season in Florence, Italy under an artist by the name of Paul Beal. For a time after college 2004-2009 I was focusing on large religious works, then I took a bit of a hiatus if you will. However, in 2013, I went back to my family roots, if I can say that, and decided to give it a go at entering the Federal Duck Stamp contest. We have a long history of waterfowlers and hunters in our family, so I grew up hunting and fishing, and so it felt natural in ways to return to this. Since then it has been a relearning and rebuilding of my technique; in many ways, though I still stick to traditional methods used in oil painting. I'm a signature member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artist's. I am currently represented by Going to the Sun Gallery in Whitefish, Montana, and The Sportsman’s Gallery, Nashville, TN. I focus on waterfowl and western wildlife. I show annually at the Out West Art Show and Sale, and have even had my work auctioned at the Russell Auction. I do a lot of work with Ducks Unlimited, often supporting them through the auctioning of my work. I’m also under contract with Realtree Outdoors for a North American Waterfowl project which will launch in January 2022. And now I look forward to showing my work here at SEWE for the first time.
