An Update on SEWE

UPDATE 1/5/21

Dear SEWE Supporters,

Over the past 10 months, our team has closely monitored the pandemic and worked with the City of Charleston and local and regional agencies to plan our 2021 event. Throughout, we remained cautiously optimistic about hosting SEWE in February and consulted with the appropriate organizations to arrange an event that would align with the health and safety guidelines established by our local leaders. However, as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the country, we have reached a crossroads in our planning process. We are faced with having to make decisions that could compromise the safety of our patrons and the integrity of our event.

We met with our Board of Directors to assess the current state of public health and review the plans and outlined safety protocols for this year’s show. After extensive evaluation and deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition.

We made earnest efforts to plan a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our loyal attendees, artists and exhibitors, but have concluded that we cannot ensure the health of our guests without sacrificing the spirit of SEWE. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during these challenging times and we hope you know how much your support means to us as we move forward together.

As stated in our ticketing terms and conditions, we are providing those who purchased VIP packages, General Admission tickets and Lowcountry Social tickets with the following options:

  • Ticket Refund:

SEWE will refund the value of your ticket package (applicable for VIP, General Admission and Lowcountry Social tickets). Refunds are only available upon request and must be completed within 45 days of cancellation of the event. SEWE 2021 refund requests can be submitted online.

  • Ticket Donation:

The value of your ticket package will be donated to the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. Your generous, tax-deductible donation will help support our nonprofit’s mission to showcase the nation’s finest wildlife artists, create awareness for conservation, positively influence wildlife and nature education and impact the local and statewide economies through increased tourism.

We understand that many of you were planning to travel to Charleston to celebrate SEWE during Presidents’ Day Weekend. Although we won’t be hosting our annual show this year, we hope many of you are still able to visit the Lowcountry and support our partners and local community during your stay. We are also working on other creative opportunities to provide our patrons with a taste of SEWE until we return in February 2022 for the highly anticipated celebration of 40 years of SEWE.

We look forward to safely welcoming everyone back for SEWE 2022, February 17 – 20. Please contact us with questions or concerns.

Stay safe and healthy,
The SEWE Team
