The Dewberry Artist-in-Residence: Thomas Swanston
The Dewberry is pleased to welcome celebrated artist and conservationist Thomas Swanston as the Artist-in-Residence for SEWE 2025. Throughout SEWE weekend, guests can meet and witness the artist at work where he brings migratory flocks of swooping sandhill cranes to life with his unique silver and gold gilding technique intertwined with ethereal washes of color and light to celebrate the awe and wonder of migratory journeys and the natural world.
Additionally, visitors can see Swanston’s captivating permanent artwork the “Migration Series” at the hotel in The Swanston Room. Born from an artistic collaboration between John Dewberry and the artist, this installation is composed of 22 panels featuring thousands of Sandhill and Whopping cranes, gilded in silver, pewter, and 22-carat gold.
