About Ezra Tucker
Ezra Tucker began his award winning career four decades ago in the field of Illustration. Producing many familiar advertisements and enduring images for a multitude of America’s Fortune 500 corporations. The mass market appeal of Ezra’s artwork has been recognized by numerous gold medals and his extensive and prestigious commercial and private client list.
Ezra has spent many years pursuing his intense interest in nature, zoology and wildlife art. He has researched and studied the history of wildlife art and wildlife artist from cave paintings thru today. Publications, nature films and museum collections have inspired his lifelong fascination. Ezra states,”To capture the essence of a creature in motion or in repose in a believable and naturalistic manner is my ambition for my art. A minimalist approach to my technique and style to depict texture, motion and personality is a goal. I am also striving to breath life into my subjects by capturing the dignity and elegance of each creature in pencil or in paint by experimenting with color and light to depict distinct qualities of my subjects. I approach my subjects from a naturalist point-of-view. The variety of markings and anatomy of a species and within a species can be overlooked by a cursory glimpse. I research and choose to reveal those differences through my art. I prefer to use an impressionistic brush stroke when I paint to produce the likeness of my subject. I am wanting to create an impression of these creatures and not a photo realistic image. I desire for the viewer to use their intellect and curiosity to imagine when they observe my art. Intense study and discerning observation made many of the revered wildlife artist like James Audubon, J.L. Lansdowne, Wilhelm Khurnet, Arthur Wardle, Paul Jouve, Bob Khun, Bugatti, Charles Knight, and Antoine Barye great. They used distinctly different styles and mediums, but they could capture the essence of their subjects magically.”
Ezra Tucker was recently honored as the Featured Artist at the 2017 Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists and Artists For Conservation. Ezra’s original works have been purchased by the Booth Museum, Anheuser- Busch, Inc., the Texas Rangers Historical Museum and the Rossignol Cultural Centre in Liverpool, Nova Scotia to hang in their permanent collections.
