About Vickie McMillan-Hayes

Vickie McMillan-Hayes, a native Texan masterfully creates breathtaking wildlife, landscape/nature paintings and public art installations for large corporate offices and buildings. Vickie’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited in both art museums and fine art galleries throughout the country and abroad. Fittingly, many of the regional and international exhibitions she has participated in have promoted wildlife conservation and endangered species and raised public consciousness of the urgent need to move towards environmental sustainability. Her paintings are included in museum, corporate, private collections, and have been published in well-known magazines, articles, and reviews both locally and internationally.

Vickie’s paintings have a distinct style to accommodate her disability called Essential Tremors. To create detail, she holds her breath while embracing her painting hand in order to achieve the desired stroke. She applies numerous layers of paint with loose brush strokes to create a rich depth that mimics abstract texture seen in nature. Vickie is a donor, active/lifetime member of many organizations who raise funds to protect our parks, land and animals that promote and educating wildlife conservation such as HSC, TWA, NRA, CCA, SCI, HOU.SCI, RMEF, HLSR, PHASA and Zoo’s. McMillan-Hayes’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited in private collections, art museums and fine art galleries throughout the country and abroad. Such as: Front cover-2016 Artists for Conservation calendar; The Briscoe Western Art Museum, Night of the Artists; The Museum of Western Art; U.S. Department of State/Art of Embassies collection; Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum; The Wildling Museum; Qingdao Lan Wan Art Gallery at Lan Wan Art Park, China; Birds in Art - collection; SEWE; Artist of the Year - Houston Safari Club and SCI Houston; published: The Artist's Magazine; Fine Art Connoisseur; Western Art and Architecture Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine Artistic Excellence award, PleinAir Magazine- best overall Acrylic.
