About Rana
“I paint to portray not only the structure and color of the local wildlife and lowcountry marshes, but also the emotional energy that this wonderful area evokes.”
A native of Iowa, Rana delights in exploring the lowcountry including its historically significant architecture, scenic ocean vistas and rich colors of the marshes and wildlife. She uses oil paint to translate what she sees into a uniquely colorful perspective. Painting in an expressive, impressionistic style, she experiments with cold wax, texture and non-traditional tools, striving for a fresh, contemporary way to capture her subjects.
She is represented by Lowcountry Artists Gallery in downtown Charleston, SC. Her paintings are collected nationally and abroad in private and corporate collections. She resides on scenic Daniel Island where she paints both en plein air and in her studio.
